The Least Awkward Celebrants in Adelaide

Hey! Remember this. It’s important. Your ceremony IS your wedding. The reception is the party celebrating you got wed. I’ll say it again. YOUR. CEREMONY. IS. YOUR. WEDDING.

It totally shouldn’t be awkward, boring or weird.

This is the main event people. The culmination. The reason why everyone is there! People haven’t been invited to the reception with a side note attached saying — “come two hours early and join us for this other crap thing we’re doing”. Your ceremony matters.

All these wonderful wedding celebrants below, all different in their qualities — will make sure that your ceremony is memorably one of the greatest parts of your wedding day.

As an Adelaide Wedding Photographer, I’ve come into contact with LOTS of celebrants, but here is who I consider to be the best and least awkward wedding celebrants in Adelaide.

  1. Claire Parsons
  2. Laura Khabbaz
  3. Camille Abbott
  4. Alix Gloede
  5. Courtney Gugusheff
  6. Vicky Flanegan
  7. Jacqui Leopardi
  8. Penelope Carrick
  9. Silvana Grdovic
  10. Natalie Peachey

  1. Claire Parsons

No one runs a wedding ceremony quite like Claire Parsons does and you kinda get the idea once you step onto the plane to flying to the Cape De Do

It Your Own Wayville.

Claire absolutely controls the room, sometimes controlling said room into fits of joy, heartfelt mushiness and generally is a master of breaking the ice and getting people invested into situations they find themselves in. It’s a beautiful thing to witness. Couples fear no more, you won’t break a sweat with Claire around at your ceremony.

2. Lauren Khabbaz

Lauren is well known in the wedding industry for her big heart and that translates to the epic ceremonies she creates for her couples. Forever original, authentic, fun, chilled and personalised. She brings the VIBE. All you have to do is take one look at Lauren’s site and you’ll get the vibe of her straight away. Bright and Colourful. You won’t find any disingenuous passages that get pumped out at so many weddings. She’s all for you, all the way and a freakin bad ass boss lady.

3. Camille Abbott

If you’re after a ceremony that is a little more calm, relaxed and a bit less focused on the celebrant and more on the crux of what brought you all together in a beautifully scripted and to the point ceremony, then Camille is your celebrant. You’ve found her.

I personally think Camille is the best valued celebrant South Australia has to offer and for anyone who has seen and been put off by a showy, obnoxious celebrant at other weddings, you’ll feel so comfortable with Camille. She has this special ability to calm anyone feeling the nerves of a wedding day with her warm motherly approach. I love her and you will too. Absolute legend.

4. Alix Gloede

As Alix floats toward you with her huge smile, open arms and radiant energy, you recognise immediately you’ve got someone on your team who truly cares about what she does. This stage presence translates perfectly to your wedding as she effortlessly commands attention and delivers her highly personalised ceremonies to your captive guests.

Her love of the little things we take for granted in life translates to a passionate love of the big things in life, like getting married!

This house plant loving, puzzle master and dance floor villain will be a great addition to your day guaranteed! There’s good reason why she’s one of the best Adelaide has to offer.

5.Courtney Gugusheff

You’ll be so grateful that Courtney was your celebrant for your wedding day. Down to earth, positive and professional all rolled into one. So many have mentioned the most incredible job she does for people and there are nothing but positive reviews from families and friends who were there witnessing Courtney do her thing. From the very first meeting, she’ll put you at ease and quickly become have you confident from that first meeting that she your perfect celebrant. The ceremonies I’ve worked with Courtney have been beautiful, romantic, personal and heart-felt and lots of fun.

I’d 100% recommend Courtney, don’t hesitate and give her a call!

6. Vicky Flanegan

Vicky always puts a smile on my face. Every wedding I’ve worked on with her has resulted in the exact same situation for couples and their guests. Vicky oozes warmth and her friendly, easygoing nature has lent itself well to her 10+ years of experience in the industry.

There are multiple accounts of Vicky nailing things from the very first meeting she has with couples; her communication is meticulous & that’s pretty dang important for a celebrant right? As a photographer there are certain things you hope a celebrant does and Vicky ticks all the boxes every single time.

7. Jacqui Leopardi

Jacqui here oozes warmth. A Adelaide Hills local who brings a great deal of professionalism, creatively woven into this beautiful friendly nature that instantly makes you feel comfortable when you spend time with her. She is just a legit bloody lovely human being that creates beautiful, funny, real and personal ceremonies. One of the best here. The kind of person you’d love to have over to your house, for dinner and a bottle or two of wine. Just spinning yarns into the early hours. She finds it so easy to relate and connect with anyone. Therefore creating something amazing that you’ll always remember.

8. PENELOPE CARRICK

Pen. What an absolute pleasure of a human to be in the presence of. Calming, personal & real. Always an absolute treat when I roll on into a wedding ceremony and see this beautiful human standing at the end of the aisle.

9. Silvana Grdovic

Silvana just gets it. No cheese, no bullshit. Lots of awesomeness. Enough life experience to be able to read a room and crowd instantly. But not so much, that she’s past it and can’t connect. Exactly what you want.

10. Natalie Peachey

There’s zero stress when you’re with Nat. She’s got your back. Creating something personal & precisely what the two of you want. Easily.
